Five Radford University softball student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team for their performances on and off the field during the 2026 season, according to a May 26 announcement. The honorees are Abby Bossler, Grace Bechtol, Morgan Cooper, Amanda Lee, and Amber Wolfe.

To qualify for Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must be at least sophomores and meet specific participation requirements: competing in 90 percent of games or starting in 66 percent. Pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched at least 35 innings. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 is also required. Only about three percent of Division I student-athletes are eligible for this award.

Bossler started all 51 games at first base with a .995 fielding percentage—ranking among the top five single-season marks in program history—and posted a team-best 20 walks. She has a career-high GPA of 3.77 and will enter the MBA program after earning her sports management degree.

Bechtol was recognized as one of Division I’s top defensive shortstops this season and has maintained a .226 career batting average with notable contributions in RBI, doubles, and stolen bases while holding a GPA of 3.95 toward an allied health sciences degree.

Cooper recorded the second-best earned run average in the Big South Conference (3.23) and achieved national rankings in several pitching categories while maintaining a GPA of 3.59 toward her allied health sciences degree.

Lee led Radford with a .325 batting average and was its primary run-scorer with a team-high number of runs scored; she also topped conference statistics for stolen bases during Big South play while working toward her teaching degree with a GPA of 3.93.

Wolfe split time behind the plate and outfield positions this year, moving into a starting role with strong defensive numbers including an errorless streak over two seasons; she holds a GPA of 3.67 while pursuing mathematics studies.

This marks Radford’s return to Academic All-District lists since 2012—a record five Highlanders were selected this year—bringing Radford’s total number honored to eight.
