In 2025, the FDA inspected 29 biologics companies across Virginia, conducting a total of 29 inspections within the state, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This represented the second highest count of inspections by company type performed by the FDA in Virginia, accounting for 13.7% of all inspections conducted in 2025.

Among Virginia’s biologics firms, IVF Virginia, LLC, Barr Laboratories, Inc., and the Department of Defense – Navy received the largest number of citations from the FDA in 2025.

The FDA routinely inspects facilities across the nation to determine if the workplace and their products are compliant with FDA-regulated laws and regulations implemented to improve overall public health. Inspection results are then disclosed publicly.
