Fairfax County Public Schools announced on Apr. 14 that several family support services currently offered at the Dunn Loring Center will be relocated to the Pimmit Hills Center this spring due to planned renovations. The transition is set to begin in early May, with all services reopening at the new location on June 1.

The change affects families who use the Family Resource Center, student registration, and early childhood testing appointments. According to Fairfax County Public Schools, “The Family Resource Center at Dunn Loring closes Monday, May 4.” The last day for student registration appointments at Dunn Loring is Friday, May 8, and early childhood testing appointments will end there on Friday, May 15.

During the transition period in May, families seeking registration services can access them only at Herndon and South County centers. School officials said they are working to ensure continued access without interruption: “We are working to ensure families continue to have access to these important services throughout the transition. While there will be some temporary changes to locations and scheduling in May, support will remain available without interruption.”

All affected services are scheduled to reopen at Pimmit Hills Center starting Monday, June 1. School officials acknowledged that many families rely on these resources and may need time to adjust: “We know many families depend on these services and that any change can require adjustments. Our focus is on making this transition as smooth and predictable as possible, while continuing to provide the support your family needs every step of the way.”

The relocation comes as part of broader plans for Dunn Loring Center’s return for use as a school building.
