Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) announced on April 27 that it has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The recognition was given for FCPS’s comprehensive annual financial report covering the fiscal year ending June 2025.

The award is considered the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. It is presented to organizations that demonstrate a “constructive spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate their financial stories, according to FCPS.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving about 21,000 government finance professionals across North America. According to FCPS, this honor reflects its commitment to responsible stewardship of public funds and transparent communication with its community.

More information about FCPS’s financial reporting practices and access to annual reports can be found on the FCPS Financial Reports webpage.
