Fairfax County announced on June 2 a series of events and activities to mark America’s 250th birthday, offering residents various opportunities to participate in commemorating the county’s historical contributions. The celebrations are designed for all ages and aim to highlight the people, places, and moments that have shaped Fairfax County.

Signature events include the Fairfax County Brewfest: 250th Celebration Edition on Saturday, June 13 at Bunnyman Brewing in Chantilly. This event brings together local breweries in partnership with the Fairfax County 250th Commission to honor U.S. Independence with live music, special brews, and community activities. Another key event is the Lake Fairfax Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, June 27 at Lake Fairfax Park. Attendees can expect live music, food trucks, family-friendly entertainment throughout the day, and a synchronized drone light show in the evening.

In addition to these signature gatherings, self-guided activities are available year-round as part of the Fairfax250 initiative. Residents can participate in the History Trail Pass program by visiting historic sites across Fairfax County for a chance to win monthly prizes based on site check-ins. The more locations visited within a month, the higher their chances of winning.

Another ongoing program is Fairfax250 Bingo at county public libraries. This activity encourages participants of all ages to learn about local history by completing bingo squares related to community engagement and historical exploration. Prizes are awarded for completed rows or full cards; those who finish an entire card can select from seven waterproof vinyl stickers featuring notable county landmarks.

The county recommends checking the official Fairfax250 website regularly for updates on additional events and ways to join in celebrating America’s semiquincentennial.
