The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced the closure of Evergreen Church Road, also known as Route 609, in Greene County. This closure is due to the need for a drainage pipe replacement beneath the roadway.

The excavation work is scheduled to commence on Monday, July 7. The road is expected to remain closed until Sunday, July 13, depending on weather conditions.

During this period, a detour will be in place. Traffic will be directed to use Route 810 (Dyke Road) and Route 650 (Mount Olivet Road), which reconnects with Evergreen Church Road either west of the closure or near the intersection of Route 615 and Route 810 on the east side.

Motorists are advised to stay alert for workers and construction equipment in the area. It is important to follow detour signs and exercise caution while traveling through this zone.

For local updates regarding conditions in VDOT’s Culpeper District, information can be found on X.com/VaDOTCulp and the Culpeper District Facebook page.

Further details about current traffic conditions, VDOT’s statewide network of traffic cameras, and other travel-related information are accessible via the 511Virginia website, through the free VDOT 511 mobile app, or by calling 511 from any phone within Virginia.
