Route 17 northbound at the bridge over Dragon Run, located at the line between Gloucester County and Middlesex County, is down to a single lane as emergency repairs begin. The closure follows an incident earlier in the day where a tractor-trailer struck the bridge rail and guardrail.

The right lane on Route 17 northbound is closed to ensure safety for drivers and allow crews space to repair the damaged infrastructure. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) inspected the bridge after the crash. Traffic on Route 17 northbound can still use the left lane to cross Dragon Run, while southbound traffic uses a separate bridge with both lanes open.

Repair work is expected to continue for several days. Travelers can find updates about Route 17 northbound conditions through 511Virginia.
