Travelers are advised to exercise caution at the Route 1 and Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road) intersection in Spotsylvania County, as emergency traffic signal repairs are in progress. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is addressing damage caused by a vehicle strike to a traffic signal mast arm earlier today. A temporary span wire will be installed to support the traffic signals.

Route 1 remains open for traffic, but on Massaponax Church Road, both eastbound and westbound vehicles can only make right turns when approaching Route 1. No left turns or straight-through traffic is permitted from Massaponax Church Road at this time.

The repair work is expected to extend through the evening rush hour and into Monday evening. VDOT recommends allowing additional travel time and suggests alternate routes for those who usually go straight or turn left at the intersection. Full traffic flow will resume once the repairs are finished.
