The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has closed the northbound left lane of U.S. 29 (Seminole Trail) in northern Albemarle County at Route 1571 (Lewis & Clark Drive) due to a water main break beneath the roadway that damaged the asphalt.
Drivers are advised to expect delays as crews work on repairs. The lane closure is expected to continue through Christmas Day and into the weekend.
“Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution near the work zone, and remain alert for crews working near the roadway,” VDOT stated. “All work is weather permitting.”
