Former James Madison University cornerback Elijah Culp has signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League, according to an April 25 announcement.

Culp confirmed his signing with the team following the conclusion of the NFL Draft. This move marks a significant step in his football career as he transitions from college to professional play.

Culp, who is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, finished his collegiate career at James Madison in 2025. He was recognized as a Third Team All-Sun Belt defensive back and started all 13 games at cornerback that season. During his final year, he recorded 46 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception—which came during the College Football Playoff First Round against Oregon—and eight pass breakups.

Before joining James Madison University, Culp played for several other programs: Charlotte (2023-24), Troy (2021-22), and Austin Peay (2020). Over his college career spanning four schools, he appeared in 53 games with 35 starts in the secondary. His overall statistics include 128 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions and sixteen pass breakups.

The signing comes after Culp helped lead one of the top defenses nationally to a College Football Playoff appearance during his final season at JMU.
