Bree Carrico was named Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year as eight Virginia Tech Hokies softball players earned All-ACC honors, according to a May 6 announcement from the league office.

The recognition highlights the team’s strong performance this season and underscores the contributions of both new and returning players. The Hokies have now achieved eight or more All-ACC selections for the third time under head coach Pete D’Amour.

Carrico and Jordan Lynch were selected for this year’s All-ACC First Team. Six other Hokies received Second Team honors: Kylie Aldridge, Nora Abromavage, Rachel Castine, Michelle Chatfield, Addison Foster, and Emma Mazzarone. Carrico is only the fourth player in program history to be named ACC Freshman of the Year and just the second pitcher to do so. She finished her rookie campaign with a 1.93 conference ERA, ranking third among pitchers in ACC play. “Carrico garnered D1 Softball National Freshman of the Week and ACC Freshman of the Week honors after posting a 3-0 week with victories over NC State and Longwood,” according to league information.

Lynch posted a .402 average during ACC play with team-highs in hits (35), home runs (10), and slugging percentage (.839) over 24 starts at third base. She hit home runs in each game during a sweep over Syracuse from May 1–3 and was awarded ACC Player of the Week after hitting .583 with three home runs against Boston College earlier in March.

Other honorees included Abromavage (.371 average), Aldridge (.382 average), Castine (.400 average), Chatfield (30 RBIs), Foster (.444 average), and Mazzarone (10 wins as pitcher). Each player contributed key performances throughout conference play, such as walk-off home runs or record-setting games.

Virginia Tech finished its regular season at 44-9 overall (18-6 ACC) to secure the No. 3 seed for this year’s ACC Softball Championship at Palmer Park in Charlottesville from May 6–9. The team will have a first-round bye before facing either Virginia or Pittsburgh on Thursday night.
