Liberty Men’s Soccer Head Coach Scott Wells announced on April 24 the addition of Dylan Lane to his coaching staff as an assistant coach.
The appointment is significant for the program, bringing in a former collegiate standout with experience both on and off the field. Lane’s background includes roles in multiple coaching environments and notable achievements as a player.
“I am extremely excited to welcome Dylan to our program,” Wells said. “We have shared some fantastic battles during his time as a player, and I know he understands the expectations of playing in the Southern Conference. He was a fantastic player, and now I am thrilled to contribute to his skillset as he begins his coaching career.”
Lane currently serves as an assistant coach for Asheville City Soccer Club in USL League Two, where he works alongside Wells and Associate Head Coach Carl Reynolds. He was part of the first staff in club history to win a U.S. Open Cup match. His previous experience includes serving as Lead Performance Coach at SoccerGenome, where he planned over 35 training sessions per week for athletes ranging from youth players to NCAA Division I athletes, and Director of Coaching at 360 Soccer GVL, where he led various clinics and youth academy programming.
Lane began his collegiate coaching career during the 2024–25 season at Wofford College with responsibilities including session planning, individual development plans, video analysis, and daily team operations.
As a player at Furman University from 2020 to 2024, Lane appeared in 76 matches with 60 starts as a midfielder, recording eight goals and thirteen assists while serving as team captain. He earned First Team All-Southern Conference honors as a senior. Additionally, Lane competed with Vermont Green Football Club in USL League Two and contributed to their first-ever U.S. Open Cup tournament win.
A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Lane graduated from Furman University in 2024 with a degree in Communications and Media Studies.
