The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a temporary closure of a section of Route 658, known as Drunkard Road, in Amelia County. The closure is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. This is to allow for the replacement of a crossline pipe at the intersection with Route 360, also known as Patrick Henry Highway.

Homeowners along the affected stretch will retain access to their properties during this time.

VDOT has provided detour routes for motorists: Eastbound traffic should travel east on Route 360 to Route 671 (Jetersville Road) north, and then back onto Route 658. For southbound traffic, drivers should proceed south on Route 658 west to Route 671 east and then return to Route 360.

For further inquiries about the project, individuals can contact VDOT’s customer service center at 800-FOR-ROAD (800-367-7623).

Real-time traffic updates can be accessed via the website 511.vdot.virginia.gov or through the free mobile app, 511Virginia.
