Fairfax County Police announced on April 16 that detectives are investigating a domestic-related murder-suicide after two people were found dead inside a home in Annandale early Thursday morning.

The incident raises concerns about domestic violence and its impact on families, as well as the importance of support services for those affected.

According to police, officers responded at approximately 12:12 a.m. to a residence in the 8100 block of Guinevere Drive. Upon arrival, they found Cerina Fairfax, 49, and Justin Fairfax, 47, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel.

Detectives believe that Justin Fairfax shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. A firearm and cartridge casings were recovered at the scene. Two teenage children who were also in the home at the time were not harmed. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct autopsies to confirm manner and cause of death.

Victim specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to assist the family with resources and support during this time.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact their Major Crimes Bureau or submit tips anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone or online. Anonymous tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward if they provide contact information for follow-up.
