George Mason women’s lacrosse received Atlantic 10 postseason recognition on April 29 as freshman Delaney Stup was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team and graduate student Kaitlyn Bestick was selected to the A-10 All-Academic Team.
These awards highlight both athletic performance and academic achievement among team members. Stup’s selection to the All-Rookie Team reflects her strong debut season, while Bestick’s inclusion on the All-Academic Team underscores her dual success in sports and academics.
Stup started in 15 of 16 games during her first collegiate season, scoring a total of 21 goals and providing two assists for a combined 23 points. She maintained a .778 shot-on-goal percentage with 35 shots on target. Her career began with a four-goal game against Robert Morris, and she contributed defensively with two ground balls, four caused turnovers, and four draw controls.
Bestick played as a midfielder in all 16 games this season. She scored 29 goals along with six assists for a total of 35 points. With an .815 shot-on-goal percentage from her 53 shots on goal, she also recorded nine free-position goals, collected 22 ground balls, caused nine turnovers, and won 32 draw controls. Nationally, she ranks fifty-fourth in free-position goals per game at an average of 0.60. Academically, Bestick is set to complete an accelerated bachelor’s-to-master’s degree in political science within four years at George Mason University.
The recognition for both players highlights their individual achievements as well as the program’s commitment to excellence both on the field and academically.
