Travelers planning to use the Robert O. Norris, Jr., Bridge on Thursday, Sept. 4, should expect midday delays due to scheduled maintenance work. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced that Route 3 over the Rappahannock River, connecting Lancaster and Middlesex counties, will be reduced to a single lane between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

VDOT crews are set to retrieve a small piece of metal debris located on top of a bridge pier. The debris is estimated to be several inches long.

Automated flagging devices will be used to manage traffic through the work zone. These devices are operated by flagging crew members who can adjust them in response to congestion or incidents on the bridge.
