Part of Route 633, also known as McKinney Hollow Road, in Alleghany County is set to close for bridge work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 5-6 and again from March 10-13. The closure affects the area near the Cowpasture River bridge, allowing crews to stage equipment and remove an adjacent truss bridge.
During this period, Route 633 will be inaccessible to through traffic between Route 634 (Riverland Road) and the Botetourt County line. Detours are provided for both northbound and southbound drivers:
Northbound drivers should head south on Route 633, then take Route 220 north, Longdale Furnace Road east (Route 670/632/269), and finally return to Route 633 at Sharon Lane/McKinney Hollow Road.
Southbound drivers should travel north on Route 633/Sharon Lane, continue west on Longdale Furnace Road (Route 269/632/670), proceed south on Route 220, and then head north again on Route 633.
All scheduled work is contingent upon weather conditions and may change accordingly.
