The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will temporarily close a section of Route 22, known as Davis Highway, in front of Louisa County High School. This closure is necessary for emergency repairs on a stormwater pipe.

The road closure is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., during which time crews will excavate and replace the damaged pipe. A detour has been set up to redirect through traffic to U.S. 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) and Route 623 (Chopping Road). Local traffic will still have access to the work zone.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution around the work area and adhere to posted detour signs. VDOT notes that all work is contingent on weather conditions.

For local updates regarding conditions in VDOT’s Culpeper District, information can be found on their X.com/VaDOTCulp account and the Culpeper District Facebook page.

Further details about current traffic conditions, along with VDOT’s statewide network of traffic cameras and other travel information, are accessible via the 511Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app, or by calling 511 from any phone within Virginia.
