Dakota Redmon has been named Big South Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced on March 30. The award comes after a standout week for Redmon both as a pitcher and hitter for the Radford Highlanders.
Redmon led her team in hits and runs batted in during a weekend series, playing a key role in the Highlanders’ improved offense. In the series opener against Presbyterian, she allowed just one hit over seven scoreless innings while also driving in two runs. During Saturday’s doubleheader, which saw Radford score 22 runs, Redmon contributed to seven of those runs and nearly completed a cycle in the finale.
This recognition marks Radford’s fifth weekly conference award this season and is Redmon’s second individual honor after previously earning Pitcher of the Week. Teammates Morgan Cooper and Peyton Simmons have also received weekly awards from the conference. The program has now earned five weekly awards for three consecutive seasons, matching achievements last seen between 2005 and 2012.
The Highlanders are preparing to play East Tennessee State University on Tuesday, March 31. The teams will meet for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m., with live statistics available on RadfordAthletics.com.
