CSX will close Route 638, known as Lansdowne Road, at the railroad crossing for maintenance work from April 13 to April 16, affecting through traffic in the City of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County, according to an announcement on Apr. 9.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Monday, April 13, and will last continuously until the road reopens at 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 16. During this period, a detour will be posted for drivers.
Passenger vehicles are advised to use Mine Road (Route 636), Benchmark Road (Route 608), and Tidewater Trail (Route 2/17) as their detour route. Trucks should follow Mine Road (Route 636), Patriot Highway (Route 1), Lafayette Boulevard (Route 1 Business), Blue and Gray Parkway (Route 3), and Tidewater Trail (Route 2/17). Lansdowne Road carries an average of about 8,300 vehicles each day.
