The City of Emporia Public Works Department announced on Apr. 14 that its annual Spring Cleanup will take place from May 4 to May 15.

The cleanup event gives residents an opportunity to dispose of household waste and bulky items as the city prepares for the warmer months. The initiative aims to support property maintenance and ensure compliance with local codes.

According to the announcement, residents are encouraged to use these two weeks to discard residential household waste by placing it at the curb before 7:00 a.m. on their normal trash collection day. Grass, leaves, and other yard or garden waste must be bagged separately from other refuse.

The city also reminded residents that this is a good time to remove any bulky items that could lead to code violations. “City Staff will have an increased focus on the beautification of our city in upcoming months, and the property maintenance code will be strictly enforced,” according to the statement.

For questions about Spring Cleanup weeks, residents can contact the Public Works Department at 634-4500.
