Christina Nagi, a nutrition and wellness teacher at Mills E. Godwin High School, was recognized as the “Yay of the Day” honoree, according to a May 21 announcement. Superintendent Amy Cashwell presented the honor to Nagi at Godwin High School.
The recognition highlights the importance of dedicated educators in supporting student growth and fostering positive learning environments. Henrico County Public Schools focused on delivering positive learning experiences to students via dedicated staff in educational and support roles, as noted on the official website.
Nominator Mika Bartolome said, “I was actually reluctant to take her Nutrition and Wellness class at first since I thought I would learn it at ACE. But Ms. Nagi’s lesson plans changed my perspective. From helping students resolve conflict to bringing their work to outside the classroom, she’s dedicated to hands-on learning. As a result, I’ve gained more confidence on leadership, communication and inside the kitchen. That confidence that I learned expanded outside the classroom when I gained the confidence to go to HOSA Virginia SLC for a nutrition event. Even though it was for the ACE Center, a big part of motivation was Ms. Nagi’s class. I would recommend any of her classes in the future to anyone going to Godwin. Her hands-on approach teaches even someone who thought they knew it all. Learning from a textbook is one thing, but having hands-on experience is a new thing.” Another nominator, Keilla Putinas said, “She is very strong even in the weakest moments of our class! She makes a positive impact on students’ fun and happiness even after hard and stressful days.”
Henrico County Public Schools extended educational services across Henrico County, Virginia; provided services throughout Henrico County adjacent to Richmond; adopted the motto ‘The right to achieve. The support to succeed’; received accolades for teaching excellence with educators earning REB Awards; and Amy Cashwell served as superintendent—all according to information from its official website.
Nagi’s recognition marks number 91 in an ongoing series celebrating individuals who contribute positively within Henrico schools.
