Chesterfield County’s Treasurer’s Office announced on May 5 that residents have several ways to pay their personal property and first-half real estate taxes, which are due by Friday, June 5.
The county said it aims to make the payment process more convenient for taxpayers by providing a variety of secure payment methods. This effort is intended to accommodate different preferences and schedules among residents.
Residents can pay online through the Treasurer’s Office website by creating an account with a user ID. This allows them to manage all personal property and real estate accounts in one place. The office said that paying by eCheck through this portal does not incur processing fees for taxpayers. Other available methods include mailing payments using the remittance coupon from the invoice, calling an automated phone system at (833) 299-6593, or using their bank’s online bill pay service with specific instructions provided on the county’s website.
Self-service kiosks are now available at seven locations across Chesterfield County, including libraries and the County Administration Building. These kiosks accept cash, check, credit, or debit payments around the clock without convenience fees for cash or check transactions. Taxpayers may also use drop boxes located outside and inside the Administration Building or visit in person during business hours Monday through Friday.
For those who prefer automatic transactions, an Automated Payment Service allows taxes to be debited directly from a bank account on the due date at no charge. More information about all these options is available on the Chesterfield Treasurer’s Office website or by calling (804) 748-1201.
Chesterfield County has seen continued growth in its public services; during the 2023-24 school year, Chesterfield County Public Schools District enrolled over 64,000 students according to the Virginia Department of Education.
