Chesapeake Public Schools announced on Apr. 24 that Teacher Appreciation Week will be observed from May 4 to May 8, 2026. The district is encouraging students, parents, and community members to participate in celebrating teachers during this period.

Teacher Appreciation Week is an opportunity for the community to recognize the contributions of educators who play a vital role in guiding and supporting students. The district said it is home to thousands of teachers who help foster curiosity and learning among students.

In a statement released by the district, community members are invited to send messages of gratitude through an online form created specifically for this occasion. There is no limit on how many messages can be sent, and these notes may also be featured on the district’s website or social media channels as examples of staff dedication.

The announcement includes a quote from Ever Garrison: “A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom in students.” The district also encourages individuals interested in further recognition efforts to check with their school or Parent Teacher Association (PTA) about additional planned celebrations.

The message concludes by emphasizing the lasting impact teachers have on their students’ lives: “A teacher affects eternity; one can never tell where their influence stops.”
