Charlie Iriotakis led William & Mary to a 14-6 victory over Towson on Senior Day, May 10, with a career-high six runs batted in during his final game at Plumeri Park.
The game was notable for Iriotakis’ performance at the plate, where he went 3-for-5 and hit a three-run home run. The Tribe collected a total of 14 hits as they improved their record to 21-28 overall and 12-15 in the Colonial Athletic Association.
William & Mary scored first with a run-scoring double play. After Towson took the lead on Brian Heckelman’s two-run homer in the third inning, Louie Bartletti tied it up with an RBI double before Iriotakis cleared the bases with his home run. The Tribe added four more runs in the fifth inning through RBI doubles by Sam Kaczmarek and Matthew Kosuda, along with another RBI single from Iriotakis. Consecutive RBI singles from Kosuda and Iriotakis followed in the sixth inning, while Jackson Woolwine’s two-RBI single capped off scoring for William & Mary.
On the pitching side, Owen Pierce started for William & Mary and struck out four batters over three innings. Freshman Connor Jernigan pitched three innings allowing just one unearned run to earn his first career win. Luke Calveric finished out the game with two shutout innings.
Other notable performances included Laskofski going 2-for-3 with four runs scored and two stolen bases; Kaczmarek finishing perfect at the plate; Kosuda collecting two hits and two RBIs; Ecker stealing a base; and Jernigan earning his first collegiate win by giving up only one hit across three innings.
William & Mary’s next matchup is scheduled against Duke in Durham on Tuesday evening.
