Defender Pearl Cecil and midfielder Jordyn Hardeman of the Virginia women’s soccer team were named on May 21 to the roster for the U.S. Under-19 Women’s National Team for upcoming friendly matches.

The announcement matters as it highlights the recognition of local athletes at a national level, providing them with international experience and exposure.

The team is scheduled to travel to Frankfurt, Germany, from May 31 through June 10 for a training camp and two matches against Germany. The games will take place on June 5 and June 9 at the DFB Campus, which is Germany’s National Training Center in Frankfurt. Cecil and Hardeman are among five players on this roster who have previous experience in the Under-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Hardeman was part of the squad that finished third in 2024, while Cecil played in the tournament in 2025.

This year, the U.S. Under-19 Women’s National Team has played five international matches—three in Portugal and two in Argentina—and has compiled a record of four wins, zero losses, and one draw.

Eighteen players on this roster were born in 2007 while two were born in 2008. All twenty players are eligible for selection for next year’s FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup in Poland since they were born on or after January 1, 2006.

As these young athletes prepare for their upcoming trip to Germany, their inclusion signals ongoing development opportunities within youth soccer programs.
