CAA Field Hockey Weekly Awards – September 5

Monmouth senior forward Aylin Aufenacker and William & Mary junior goalkeeper Maddie George earned Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week honors after leading their respective teams to top-20 victories. Additionally, Northeastern freshman Emilia Adragna claimed CAA Rookie of the Week accolades following the Huskies’ first win this season.

 CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Aylin Aufenacker, Monmouth

Senior | Forward | Hamburg, Germany / Gymnasium Eppendorf

Aufenacker led Monmouth to a historic win for the program with four points on two goals in the Hawks’ first-ever CAA win against No. 17 Delaware. The senior forward tallied the game-tying goal with two minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime before scoring the golden goal in the 65th minute to give Monmouth the 3-2 victory. It marks Aufenacker’s first multi-goal game this season and fifth of her career.

 CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Maddie George, William & Mary

Junior l Goalkeeper | Chesapeake, Va. / First Colonial

George had an impressive weekend in the cage, recording 20 saves and posting a .870 save percentage for the Tribe. The junior goalkeeper made a career-high 12 saves with a perfect 1.000 save percentage in 69 minutes against Liberty as she shut out the number six team in the nation, allowing the Tribe to emerge victorious in overtime. It marks the most saves in a contest for William & Mary since 2018, 10 of which came in the second half and overtime. 

 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Emilia Adragna, Northeastern

Freshman | Forward | Bonn, Germany / Friedrich-Ebert Oberschule HS

Adragna helped Northeastern to its first win this season, scoring two goals in a victory over Stonehill on Sunday. The four points are a season-high for the freshman, who registered the first multi-goal game of her collegiate career.
