William & Mary senior Sally Snead and Monmouth freshman Phileine Hazen earned Colonial Athletic Association weekly honors following the opening weekend of the 2022 field hockey season. Snead collected CAA Player of the Week honors, and Hazen picked up CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sally Snead, William & Mary

Snead recorded four points on two goals to help William & Mary start the fall 2-0. In the season opener, with the Tribe facing a 2-1 deficit, Snead tallied the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation to force overtime before William & Mary downed No. 19 Old Dominion for the first time since 2017. Two days later, Snead broke 61 minutes of scoreless action with the golden goal in the Tribe’s second straight overtime victory, defeating VCU.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Phileine Hazen, Monmouth
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands / Haarlemmermeerlyceum Zuidrand
Hazen made her first two career starts in the cage, recording 17 saves and a .850 save percentage while posting a 1.50 goals-against average, playing all 120 minutes for Monmouth over the weekend. In a valiant effort against No. 15 UConn, the freshman goalkeeper posted a .882 save percentage and 15 saves, despite a 2-1 setback. The 15 saves were the most by a Monmouth goalie since 2015. Additionally, she helped the Hawks open the season with a 3-1 victory over Fairfield, making two saves with a .667 save percentage.
