The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the left lane of Interstate 64 in both directions this weekend to conduct a scheduled bridge safety inspection. The closures are planned for Saturday, September 6 on the westbound side and Sunday, September 7 on the eastbound side, each from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The inspection will occur outside Charlottesville at mile markers 122 and 124. Traffic will be routed through the right lane during these periods.

Motorists are advised to anticipate delays, plan for extra travel time, and exercise caution when passing through the work zone. VDOT notes that all work is weather dependent.

Local updates regarding road conditions in VDOT’s Culpeper District can be found on their X.com/VaDOTCulp account and Culpeper District Facebook page.

Statewide traffic information, including real-time conditions and access to VDOT’s network of traffic cameras, is available via the 511Virginia website, through the free VDOT 511 mobile app, or by calling 511 from any phone within Virginia.
