Starting July 21, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin a long-term closure for northbound traffic from Route 134 (Hampton Highway) to southbound Route 17 (George Washington Memorial Highway) in York County. This closure is part of a bridge rehabilitation project and is expected to last until late 2026.
Traffic from Route 134 northbound will be detoured via Victory Boulevard to access Route 17 south. The on-ramp and bridge from Route 17 south to Route 134 will remain open, as well as the northbound lane on Route 134 to Route 17 north.
This $5.1 million project, awarded to Kokosing Construction Company, aims to rehabilitate the bridge on Route 134 over Route 17. The work includes replacing the bridge deck and approach slabs and performing minor repairs on the bridge’s superstructure and substructure.
