William & Mary men’s tennis players Nikita Bortnichek, Oliver Hague, and Gur Trakhtenberg received four All-Coastal Athletic Association postseason honors on May 1. The league named Trakhtenberg to the first team in singles and also recognized the doubles pair of Hague and Trakhtenberg with first-team honors.
Hague was selected for the All-CAA Second Team in singles, while Bortnichek earned a spot on the All-CAA Third Team in singles. These awards follow a spring season in which William & Mary finished with a 10-13 record overall, reached the semifinals of the CAA Men’s Tennis Championship, and ended their campaign by winning three out of their last four matches. Their quarterfinal win over No. 3 seed Campbell marked the first time a No. 6 seed defeated a No. 3 seed in CAA Championship history.
Trakhtenberg built on his previous recognition as an All-CAA Second Team Singles honoree in 2025 by advancing to first-team status this year after recording a 12-12 overall singles record and going 10-8 in dual-match play at primarily the top position. In doubles competition, he posted a season record of 17-8 (14-6 dual), bringing his career doubles mark to third-best all-time at William & Mary based on winning percentage.
Hague earned his first career selection to an All-CAA singles team after leading William & Mary with a 16-9 singles record this season (15-5 dual). He played mainly at No. 2 singles where he went 15-3. Hague is now ranked fifteenth all-time at William & Mary for singles winning percentage (.627) with an overall mark of 54 wins and 32 losses; he is also seventh all-time for doubles winning percentage (.671).
The pairing of Hague and Trakhtenberg proved strong throughout the season as they were named CAA Doubles Team of the Week four times while compiling records of 16 wins (13 dual) against seven losses playing together at No.1 doubles.
Bortnichek concluded his junior year by earning third-team honors after finishing with six straight victories in singles play for an overall record of twelve wins (nine dual). He contributed fourteen additional victories across several different doubles pairings during this period.
These recognitions highlight William & Mary’s strong finish to their tennis season as well as notable individual performances.
