The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced the closure of a section of Route 668 (Baird Road) in Brunswick County for a crossline pipe replacement. The closure is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 28 at 8 a.m. and last until Friday, May 2 at 5 p.m., depending on the weather conditions.

VDOT has assured that homeowners in the area will still be able to access their properties during the operation. To accommodate the closure, specific detour routes have been provided for motorists traveling from both North Carolina and Virginia.

For travelers coming from North Carolina, the detour will commence at Route 668 (Baird Road), proceeding onto NC-1264 (Pearson Drive), then NC-1270 (Moncure Drive), followed by NC-1214 (River Road), NC-1342 (Stanley Road), Route 666 (Stanley Road), Route 667 (Oak Grove Road), and finally Route 626 (Gasburg Road).

Travelers from Virginia will start the detour on Route 668 (Baird Road), then move onto Route 626 (Gasburg Road), Route 667 (Oak Grove Road), Route 666 (Stanley Road) leading to NC-1342 (Stanley Road), NC-1214 (River Road), NC-1270 (Moncure Drive), NC-1264 (Pearson Drive), and Route 668 (Honeysuckle Road/Baird Road).
