Arrest made after shots fired at Toano apartment complex

James City County Police announced on April 28 that an arrest has been made following a shooting incident in the 7900 block of Sterling Court in Toano. Officers responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 6:22 p.m. on Monday, April 27, and found evidence confirming that gunfire had occurred in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, but several vehicles and buildings sustained damage from the gunfire. Police said Chace Anthony Roberts, age 29, of the 8600 block of Pocohontas Trail in James City County was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and reckless handling of a firearm. Roberts is currently being held without bond at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

The investigation remains active, and police indicated that additional arrests are anticipated as they continue to gather information about those involved.
