Richmond men’s golf coach Adam Decker was named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year on May 12, according to an announcement from the conference. This marks Decker’s second consecutive year receiving the honor and his record fifth overall.
The recognition follows Richmond’s recent win at the Atlantic 10 championship, which was their first in program history. The team set a new school record by winning four tournaments during the season, including a share of the Metropolis Intercollegiate, victories at both the Loyola Intercollegiate and Donald Ross Collegiate Classic, and culminating with their conference title late last month.
Decker is now a five-time recipient of this award, having previously won it in 2010, 2016, 2017, and 2025. Alongside Decker’s achievement, three Richmond players—sophomore Carson Baez, junior Quin Polin, and freshman Lucas Rizo-Patron—were selected to the All-Atlantic 10 team.
Baez earned his second straight All-Atlantic 10 honor after leading Richmond with six top-10 finishes and setting a scoring average of 70.88 for the season—the second-lowest in program history. He also set a program record by finishing at seventeen-under par at February’s Loyola Intercollegiate and placed third at this year’s conference championship.
Polin finished second on his team in several categories including top-10 finishes (five) and rounds under par (13), achieving his best individual result as runner-up at October’s Monterrey Collegiate Classic. This is Polin’s first career selection to an all-conference team.
Rizo-Patron won individual honors at this year’s Atlantic 10 Championship with a score that matched the second-lowest tournament total in school history. He was also recognized as Most Outstanding Rookie after being named A-10 Rookie of the Week four times during his freshman campaign.
With three athletes earning all-conference selections—the most since 2010—Richmond tied VCU for most honorees among teams this year. The Spiders will next compete in NCAA Regionals from May 18–20.
