Nora Abromavage hit a two-run walk-off home run to give No. 13/16 Virginia Tech a 6-5 victory over North Carolina on April 24 at Tech Softball Park.

The win was important for the Hokies, who improved their record to 39-9 overall and 13-6 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The game featured several lead changes, with both teams scoring in key moments.

North Carolina took an early lead with a solo home run, but Michelle Chatfield answered for Virginia Tech with her own solo shot in the fourth inning. Rachel Castine followed up with an RBI double, putting the Hokies ahead briefly. The Tar Heels regained the lead before Virginia Tech responded in the sixth inning when Jordan Bishop was hit by a pitch to tie the game and Addison Foster drew a bases-loaded walk to put them ahead.

In the seventh inning, North Carolina scored twice to go up by one run. With one out and Chatfield on base after drawing a walk, Abromavage delivered her fifteenth home run of the season—tying her for most on the team—to secure victory for Virginia Tech.

Pitcher Bree Carrico threw six innings and allowed five hits while striking out five batters. Emma Mazzarone pitched one inning of relief and struck out three batters. Head coach Pete D’Amour now holds an 8-3 record against North Carolina since joining Virginia Tech.

The series between these two teams continues Saturday at Tech Softball Park, followed by Senior Day ceremonies. The game will be televised on ACC Network.
